In Sarasa Ensemble's opening program for the new 2019-20 concert season, the group explores the profound depth of J.S. Bach’s solo cello suites alongside the great charm and tunefulness of Giacobbe Cervetto’s trios. Of Jewish descent, Cervetto was an immensely popular 18th-century cellist who lived to the ripe age of 101. Performers include Timothy Merton, Jennifer Morsches, and Phoebe Carrai on Baroque cellos.

Dynamic Duos: Partnerships of the Baroque  The Sarasa Ensemble presents works by Vivaldi, Tartini, Vandini, Corelli, Pietro Boni, Sylvius Leopold Weiss & Händel. This program surveys some of the many partnerships that sprang up during the Baroque era between famous violinist-composers and their favorite cellists, producing a wealth of instrumental sonata repertoire. Performers include Alison Bury, violin; Richard Earle, oboe; Jennifer Morsches, piccolo cello; Timothy Merton, cello; and Michael Leopold, theorbo.

Oliver Heath, violin; Sara Wolstenholme, violin; Gary Pomeroy, viola; Chris Murray, cello Taking advantage of the quartet’s upcoming residency at Middlebury College, we are excited indeed to welcome the Heath Quartet back to Brattleboro. Since they were last in town, the quartet has performed a five-concert series at Wigmore Hall in London featuring Jörg Widmann’s quartets, has presented a complete Beethoven quartet cycle at Kilkenny Festival in Ireland, and made their debuts at the Musée d’Orsay and Louvre Auditorium in Paris.

The most brilliant performers of the Renaissance were renowned for their effortless and virtuosic ornamentation, and their ability to improvise new works on existing themes. Recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust award, Itamar Zorman was also joint winner of the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition. He is a regular participant  at the Marlboro Music Festival and is increasingly in demand as soloist with orchestras around the world. Adam Golka returns to Brattleboro following performances in Europe and the across the United States. Originally from Texas, Golks is currently planning a survey of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas in multiple U.S. cities.
