Musical Minestrone

Musical Minestrone: folksongs and tales, rhythms and rhymes

August 12-16, 9:30am – noon
Ages 5-8
Tuition: $180, scholarships available, discount for siblings

A half day camp in the arts of oral tradition – storytelling, singing, dance, play party and movement, with some art and instrument building projects. We will build skills and comfort with words, rhyming, rhythm, dancing together, exploring rhythm instruments and being introduced to a variety of folk instruments – guitar, banjo, lap dulcimer, harp, and more!

Each day is loosely constructed around a theme, but the evolution of the week will depend on the interests of the community that we build as a group. The weeklong camp ends with a communal meal, a potluck “stone soup”, a chance for families to see what we’ve done during the week and meet the other participants. This camp is a great step for younger students hoping to attend full day music camp when they are 9.

Camp is led by songer/songwriter and longtime children’s music educator Kim Wallach
