Music in the Schools Partnership
The BMC’s Music in the Schools Partnership, works in collaboration with area schools, to offer children access to enhanced music experiences beyond what is typically available in their school curriculum.
Each year students are given the opportunity to take part in instrumental instruction in their schools, participate in the Tigers and Youth String Ensembles, and attend a special Children’s Orchestra Concert.
During the 2019-20 academic year, the BMC partners with Windham Southeast School District to provide two free After-School Music Programs including elementary and middle school group string instruction in violin, viola, cello (2 levels). Home-schooled students are welcome to participate.
A program of introductory string instruction is also being offered at the Hilltop Montessori School.
For information on how your school can become part of the Music in the Schools Partnership please contact Carol Compton at 802-257-4523 or carol@bmcvt.org.
Here is a link to our Peter and the Wolf concert for area school children in March. This performance, part of the BMC Music in the Schools program, featured narrator James Gelter as well as an orchestra of fine players from the region, conducted by Zon Eastes.
