Music Under the Stars: FREE Windham Orchestra Performance (gates open 4:30)

September 28, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The Brattleboro Music Center and Retreat Farm “Music Under the Stars” concert series concludes Saturday, Sept. 28, with a family-friendly performance by the Windham Orchestra.

To make this event inclusive and accessible to the entire community, the BMC and Retreat Farm are pleased to announce that the event will now be free. Donations at the gate to help offset expenses are greatly appreciated.

The concert will celebrate the fall equinox. Says Musical Director Hugh Keelan, “We are delighted to offer the community an outdoor concert under the equinoctial heaven. This concert will be fun and transporting, and we are grateful to the BMC and Retreat Farm for this celestially blessed collaboration.”

The program will include works by Borodin, Grofé, Haydn and Beethoven, as well as a world-famous march written in Bellows Falls, VT. “This music will provide delight, delicacy and some drama,” adds Keelan. “Our goal is to give our audience ease and joy, transport the soul, and recognize our place in the sublime cosmos.”

Series sponsors are Against the Grain Gourmet and Vermont State Employee Credit Union (VSECU).

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 5:30 p.m. Accessible parking is available.

Concertgoers are free to set up lawn chairs on the beautiful green at Farmhouse Square. Attendees can dine on local food truck fare and maple creemees from the Farm Shop, or bring their own picnic dinner. Due to alcohol regulations, BYOB is not permitted. A selection of Vermont craft beer, hard cider, and wine is available for purchase at The Thirsty Goat, Retreat Farm’s pop-up bar.
