Music School Student Orchestras Concert

The BMC showcases student ensembles with the annual Spring Student Orchestras Concert.
The free event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, at 7 pm at the BMC, 72 Blanche Moyse Way. The concert represents a finale for the year and includes performances of all levels of student ensembles, including the youngest Tigers Ensemble, Music in the Schools classes, youth and adult string ensembles, followed by the BMC Music School String Orchestra.
Performances will include the Tigers Ensemble performing pieces by Kathy and David Blackwell and Stanley Fletcher, the Music in the Schools students performing several pieces by David Tasgal, and the Youth String Enemble performing pieces by Strauss, Ravel and Robles. Adult ensembles will present several pieces including Robert Longfield’s Momentum and Thom Sharp’s Missouri Morning.
The program traditionally ends with the Music School String Orchestra, the most advanced student ensemble. The Orchestra’s performance will include selections from Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6 #6, Elgar’s Serenade for Strings Opus 20, the Finale from Holts’s St. Paul’s Suite, and an orchestral arrangement of Kuhlau’s Sonatina Concertata, featuring William Lehninger Swist on piano.
