Flute Master Class

March 24 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Grammy-nominated Vermont flutist Karen Kevra returns with pianist Jeffrey Chappell for a master class on Saturday, March 24 at 1 pm.  The class will open with a group tone workshop for flutists of all levels entitled “Tuneful and Tactile Tone Techniques” – so bring your flute! As Louis Moyse’s leading protégée, Kevra draws her tone concepts from her decade plus of studying with Louis Moyse, combined with inspiration from Marcel Moyse’s tone books “De la Sonorite” and “Tone Development Through Interpretation.” In this workshop, students will explore techniques which combine mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, and simple folk tunes to develop, expand, and open their tone. The remainder of the class will be spent with performer participants who will perform pieces from the standard flute repertoire accompanied by Jeffrey Chappell.
