EOS “2 for 4” Breaking Barriers and Defying Conventions

March 24 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The BMC’s EOS Project presents string quartets by two pioneering women composers Sunday, March 24, at the BMC.

Titled “2 for 4,” the 4 p.m. program will feature Florence Price’s String Quartet No. 2 in a minor and Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4. Florence Price and Grażyna Bacewicz were trailblazers in their respective contexts, breaking barriers and defying conventions to make their mark on the world of classical music.

While they lived worlds apart, they shared the challenge of creating works in a male dominated profession. Both women navigated the challenges of their time with unparalleled creativity and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of musicians.

Performing will be BMC faculty members Michelle Liechti , Heather Sommerlad, violin; and Sabine Rhyne, cello and guest Greg Diehl, viola.
