Blanche Moyse Chorale: Final Performance

Sunday, April 28, marks the final performance by the Blanche Moyse Chorale. The 4 p.m. concert at the Brattleboro Music Center will include two works by J.S. Bach: the familiar motet “Jesu, meine Freude” and Cantata BWV 23 (“Du wahre Gott und Davids Sohn), as well as the lovely “Musikalische Exquien” by Heinrich Schütz, the first known requiem in German. The Chorale will be led by conductor Mark Nelson.
This concert will be the last time that this group of singers performs as the Blanche Moyse Chorale, and it will serve as an important moment to honor the ensemble for more than 45 years of uplifting and moving performances. For many, singing in the Blanche Moyse Chorale, or attending their beautiful concerts, stand out as beloved life memories.
The Chorale will be accompanied by an ensemble including: Kathy Andrew, Colleen Jennings, Sarah Briggs, Michelle Liechti, violins; Greg Diehl, Stephanie Railsback, violas; Judith Serkin, cello; Paul Horak, bass; Aaron Lakota, Chris Rhua, oboe; and Greg Hayes, organ.
The afternoon will conclude with a festive reception, where both past and present Chorale members will have the opportunity to share memories and to remember voices from the past. There will be a slide show, and perhaps even some singing. The BMC is collecting photographs for the slide show. If you have some to share, please send them to the BMC either by email to info@bmcvt.org, or by regular mail.
Everyone is strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as this concert is expected to sell out.
