The Brattleboro Concert Choir performs an exciting and challenging repertoire, ranging from classic choral masterpieces to rarely heard or newly commissioned works. The Choir’s far ranging and adventurous programming involves innovative collaborations and presentations, and presents dynamic concerts to packed audiences twice yearly. The choir commits to a high level of performance standard and musical integrity.
The BMC’s oldest performing ensemble, the Brattleboro Concert Choir was created by Blanche Moyse even before she established the BMC. The choir’s programming has included such works as the Rachmaninoff All-Night Vigil, Handel’s Israel in Egypt, Bloch’s Sacred Service, Mozart’s Vesperae Solemnes, and David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus; as well as the world premieres of Nico Muhly’s Jubilate and Paul Dedell’s Divine Chemistry, written expressly for the Concert Choir.
Brattleboro Concert Choir is a large (85-100), mixed-voice, auditioned community ensemble. The chorus rehearses weekly on Wednesdays from September through May and currently performs two concerts a year. For the purposes of our search, finalists will be invited to conduct concerts in the 2018-19 season.
