The Brattleboro Music Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic administrator to oversee and manage the organization’s operations, marketing, and community relations. This position is responsible for the overall performance and health of the BMC, and reports to its Board of Trustees. The Managing Director plans and supervises the organization’s ongoing activities to ensure efficiency and economy of operations while maximizing the quality of programs. Responsibilities include long-term and daily financial planning, budgeting, and cash management, review of program activity to ensure viability, oversight of all development and communications activities, management and coordination of BMC staff, community relations, and information and accounting systems, and management of BMC facilities (including rental and performance spaces).
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, previous management experience in a similar setting, or a combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a collaborative fashion, the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously and to carry out detailed assignments while maintaining and advancing the broad organizational vision, and the demonstrated ability to take initiative and work with limited oversight
