Sarasa Ensemble: Music for 3 Cellos

In Sarasa Ensemble's opening program for the new 2019-20 concert season, the group explores the profound depth of J.S. Bach’s solo cello suites alongside the great charm and tunefulness of Giacobbe Cervetto’s trios. Cervetto was an immensely popular 18th-century cellist who lived to the ripe age of 101. Performers include Timothy Merton, Jennifer Morsches, and Phoebe Carrai on Baroque cellos.

The Vermont Symphony’s ‘Made in Vermont’ chamber orchestra statewide tour continues Friday, Sept. 27, with a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Brattleboro Music Center. The visit is especially meaningful to the BMC because of VSO Conductor Jaime Laredo's role, with his wife, Sharon Robinson as the BMC Artistic Advisers. The Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble presents “Dynamic Duos: Partnerships of the Baroque” at the Brattleboro Music Center Friday, Nov. 29. The most brilliant performers of the Renaissance were renowned for their effortless and virtuosic ornamentation, and their ability to improvise new works on existing themes. The music they created, based on vocal polyphony, popular tunes, and dance music, remains a great unwritten repertoire, ripe for rediscovery.
