"Vermont is home to several fine community orchestras and on Friday, in a concert at Vermont Academy, the Brattleboro Music Center's Windham Orchestra prove to be one of, if not the best." Jim Lowe, The Times Argus and Rutland Herald, 5/09
The Windham Orchestra is delighted to welcome Music Director Hugh Keelan for the 2010-2011 concert season. The Orchestra takes great pride in its 40-year history of presenting symphonic music in southeastern Vermont, performing new music by local composers, keeping classical music vital and building future audiences. For the 2010-2011 concert season, Maestro Hugh Keelan has created a series of concerts that combine great symphonic standards with intriguing, out of the mainstream, orchestral gems. Performances will take place in November, January, March and June with concerts held in Brattleboro, Bellows Falls, and Saxtons River. See Schedule.
OPEN INVITATION TO ALL MUSICIANS:
On Monday, September 13, 7:15 pm at the River Garden in Brattleboro, the Windham Orchestra will hold a “Get Acquainted” rehearsal. The rehearsal is open to all area musicians with an invitation to come and enjoy a little music making and social time with other musicians.
The Get Acquainted rehearsal will include an opportunity to meet and rehearse with new Music Director Hugh Keelan and the amateur and professional musicians of the Windham Orchestra. For Local musicians, who would like to experience the feeling of playing with a large ensemble, this is an excellent opportunity to “try out the Orchestra.”
The evening will include desserts and beverages, and Franck’s Symphony in d minor will be rehearsed. Musicians are asked to RSVP by September 10, so that music will be ready for them, by contacting the Brattleboro Music Center (802-257-4523 or
